Every strain has a story: Peachtree
The story of Peachtree is a classic tale of tragedy before victory. In the second half of 2022 Rusty and I were midway through our second seed production run together in the Gold Country of Northern California. We had a lineup of our favorite strains that had been pollinated by a male of the P41 which is a brother of the Piña Colato. One day a black militant looking helicopter flew over the farm causing high alert in our camp but we calmed ourselves down convinced that our small unlicensed farm wasn’t a priority to law enforcement as we were only cultivating plants to harvest seeds, not for bulk flower production. Unfortunately a few weeks later the farm got raided a few days before the harvest date. Rusty was taken to jail, his family was terrorized and the entire crop filled with seeds of the new P41 crosses was eradicated. In addition the police killed every plant on the property which included not only our entire strain library but also all of Rusty’s moms and males; basically over 10 years of work was lost in 1 day.
When Rusty got out of jail he went back to the farm to see what the cops left behind he found a few buds of Gelonade in a corner of the hoop house. The Gelonade was one of the receivers in the tent that had been chopped and those few floor nugs were filled with healthy and mature seeds of Gelonade x P41. We were able to save around 50 seeds and gave them to a home grower in LA that had expressed interest in phenohunting some of our genetics. I met Chance at our then weekly Hollywood Blvd pop-ups and was impressed by his enthusiasm so I figured he would be the perfect candidate to find a winner in the few seeds that we salvaged.
Months later when the seedlings had been backed up, flowered out and cured I met with Chance to select a keeper. There was a lot of variety across the different phenotypes which is typical for regular, non feminized seeds however one particular number stood out to me. The #9 was different that anything I had ever smelled, it was reminiscent of Gelonade on the nose but had a different character overall. The structure was dense like Gelato 41 but had a fluorescent green hue with bright orange hairs. I picked the #9 without thinking twice. After my friend Tim from Superdope came over and confirmed my selection, so I put the cut into production.
After spending time with a few different tester batches Rusty and i decided to name this cut Peachtree because we feel like the high terpene flavor profile is true to the lemon tree legacy, carrying on that Zesty character that I personally love. The Peachtree begins with the signature lemonade citrus but quickly transitions into an intense fruity finish that pulls notes from the Afternoon Pineapple. In combination this medley leaves a taste on the tongue that is reminiscent of a ripe peach or nectarine. The Peachtree is a flavour forward variety and is great for daytime use due to a mild but enjoyable effect. We recommend that you keep trying the batches as they get dialed in so you can experience the evolution of this legendary new profile bred in house by the Duke of Doja.
